OSHA & Fall Protection

The Metal Building Manufacturers Association is strongly committed to every company having a comprehensive safety program and safety training program. A good safety program is the best insurance of keeping everyone, both employers and employees, safe and in business. There is no substitute for a safety program that includes training and supervision by erectors and builders who have the responsibility for safety on particular job sites.

All employees and workers are responsible for reviewing, and complying with, the requirements of all applicable federal or state OSHA Standards, as well as local statutes, ordinances, codes and similar regulations unique to each individual project, which must also be followed.

The manufacturer may supply erection drawings and instructions establishing the sequence of erection and appropriate connection of the metal building system components. The erection drawings are not intended to specify any particular method of erection to be followed by the erector. The erector is also responsible for supplying any safety devices, such as scaffolds, runways, nets, etc., which may be required to safely erect the metal building system.

There are many types of fall protection devices, methods, and equipment available for which each contractor is responsible, ensuring that a method is being used by employees at an elevated height.
